Lion Green Road shortlisted for International Building Project of the Year!

We are thrilled to announce that our Lion Green Road project has been shortlisted for International Building Project of the Year at the Irish Building and Design Awards 2024.

Lion Green Road is a 12,260m2 residential development of five sculpted pavilions sitting within a verdant, hilltop landscape comprising 157 new homes in the south London suburb of Coulsdon.

The blocks range from five storeys (nearest the road) to seven storeys higher up. Each of the five pavilions all share the same plan form of an irregular 13-sided tridecagon, creating a folded façade that looks impressive from the ground level. The plan form provides natural daylight and views of the surrounding landscape, while the rotation of the blocks gives enhanced privacy from the buildings nearby when compared to square designs.

Three complementary colours of brick (black, red and brown) and patterns of projecting headers and varied bonds are further engaging. The buildings’ vertical planes, set at many different angles, catch light and shadow in multiple and constantly changing ways. Three different colours were used to provide differentiation between the overlapping facades when viewed from the ground.

Terraces step back the façade at the varying levels on 3 of the 5 blocks. The irregular shape gives every home a dual aspect and the inset corner balconies in the kitchen/living rooms open on two sides for daylight and expansive views. The apartments themselves are a mix of 1-, 2-and 3-bedroom units, comprising private sale, affordable and social rent.

The delivery of the Lion Green Road Residential Development during complex times was truly a result of outstanding collaboration and hard work from all parties, thank you!

Congratulations to everyone shortlisted this year and good luck!

“CField were a pleasure to deal with on site. Given that it was a live site and the administrative offices continued to function throughout the project period, disruption was minimised and management of movement of staff to different locations within the building during the project was facilitated efficiently. Any issues or concerns raised were dealt with positively in a timely manner and the project was completed without delays.”
