CField Construction has commenced works on the conversion of Bodmin Jail, which closed in 1927, into a Luxury Boutique Hotel, with a destination Restaurant and Spa.
The Grade II-listed building conversion will be particularly challenging with walls up to one metre thick and nine species of bat having colonised the ruins. Old cells will be knocked through to create spacious, luxurious accommodation. The completed project will include many modern architectural interventions such as glazed lift shaft and glazed roof.
