Conversion of an existing Category A listed building into a 172 nr. bed 4* Clayton Hotel including an 8 nr. storey steel frame extension to the rear courtyard building over the existing substation.
This project is located on a logistically challening city centre site within the Edinburgh World Heritage Site.
The works include:
•Major alterations and refurbishment work internally to convert the building into a hotel
•Minor ground works for the foundation, strengthening, demolition, removal, and replacement of existing facade to the courtyard
•Replacement of windows and alterations to existing facades to form new window openings
•Mix of new facade treatments including aluminium rain screen, curtain walling, terracotta cladding and natural stone
•Complex demolition of the rooftop structure including the temporary support of 4 nr. large 19th century chimneys
•Retenetion of existing last 1800’s facade and internal features
•Complex temporary works design
•Basement level water proofing works
The development will be built to BREEAM Excellent rating.
